Last ice blast

It is spring break in our district- always too early- and we usually visit Uncle Butch and Aunt Sandy in Hawaii. This year we stayed close to home and took Samantha to the aquarium and children’s museum in Denver. Now we are in Buffalo for what is probably our last chance at ice fishing. It has been an incredibly long season. We have had the coldest snowiest conditions Wyoming has seen in ages!
Here are some highlights and here is to getting back into writing regularly now that Sammy is a little independent!!!

Canada and North Dakota

Last year we skipped going to Canada. ¬†We just weren’t sure what to expect with Samantha. ¬†We barely knew her. ¬†What if she cried a lot, what if she couldn’t handle the cool days, what if she got sick??? ¬†Being new parents we had a lot of unsure-ities, and asked a lot of what-ifs. ¬†In hindsight, we probably could have gone… ¬†This kid is an outdoor girl through and through. ¬†She is always happy out of doors and so are we!! ¬†Here is a photo journal of the last 2 weeks.

Cody and Beartooth Mountains

Each summer we take our nieces, Katelyn and Kylee, on a week adventure (and mom, Deb, got to come too!!). This year we decided to go to Cody and the Beartooth mountains. One of our goals for the trip was to show the girls some mountain goats up close.  We started our week in Cody, drove to Redlodge, hiked to line creek, checked out Silvergate and Cook City, over Cheif Joseph Highway and ended up back in Cody.  It was a wonderful trip in beautiful country with wonderful wildlife; the highlight for the girls??  KOA Kamping!!!

More Pathfinder Action

Did we mention we like to fish and play at Pathfinder?

July 19 & July 28:

This week we decided to spend a couple days at Pathfinder. The trip started out with us taking our good friend Jeff Muratore and our new friend David. David, visiting from Miami, fishes for reds snook, tuna and other saltwater fish. It was a windy day, but we were able to boat quite a few before heading back to shore for lunch. The trip continued with us spending the next day and a half with the family at their lake trailer. Tuesday morning we had a goal of 10-12 fish for canning. Deb, Kate and Jesse came out with us and we had our goal within 2 hours! We then grilled some dogs and went out with the wake surf board for a little fun in the sun. What a great place to fish and play without dealing with crowds!!!

Fish Lake

Three days of peace, cool weather and great fishing! What could be better. We try to get to Fish Lake two or three times each year. It is a great place to get away from the crowds and the heat. Three years in a row now we have seen the same osprey nest with chicks. It is wonderful watching the chicks peek their heads over the edge of their home of more than two stories high, their parents fishing the shallow banks for dinner and hearing their screetches during twighlight. This is one of many reasons we love to spend time in the Wind River Mountains!

Glendo is becoming quite the metropolis these days. ¬†With the local weekenders, greenies and a tournament nearly every weekend; the census could rival that of the booming Gilette right now. ¬†And in this neighborhood of such high dollor real estate we are but the lower middle class. ¬†However, It doesn’t take a $60,000 boat to land the big ones, it does not take a 225hp motor to¬†find the honey holes, and it does not take a tackle box as big as a cooler to entice a bite. ¬†It merely takes the desire to spend time in these great outdoors and the patience to learn about the species you are after!
