Cody and Beartooth Mountains

Each summer we take our nieces, Katelyn and Kylee, on a week adventure (and mom, Deb, got to come too!!). This year we decided to go to Cody and the Beartooth mountains. One of our goals for the trip was to show the girls some mountain goats up close.  We started our week in Cody, drove to Redlodge, hiked to line creek, checked out Silvergate and Cook City, over Cheif Joseph Highway and ended up back in Cody.  It was a wonderful trip in beautiful country with wonderful wildlife; the highlight for the girls??  KOA Kamping!!!

The Ultimate Trophy!

If you had asked us 5 years ago about having children, we would have told you it was not in our plans.  We have hundreds of kids and love them all.  However with age comes (some) wisdom and we realized that ‘our’ plans are not always what is important in life.  God has plans too and they supersede ours- as they should.  When we finally realized that was what He wanted for us we made our lives open to the possibility of having a baby.

And now here we are the proud parents of Samantha Ann!  A true gift from God, a life changer- but in the BEST possible way.

She is our prize trophy and tops any record in the books!!!

Grand Finale, summer 2011

Every summer we spend a few days with our nieces somewhere in Wyoming on a camping and fishing adventure. We had wanted to take the them to Yellowstone for quite some time now and this year was the year! The circumstance allowed us to spend the week with some good friends as well. On this adventure we slept in 32º weather, caught cutthroats for breakfast, saw a chocolate colored wolf, watched the sun set on the Tetons, witnessed the many amazing colors of Yellowstone, played games in the dark, disected owl pellets, ate many smores (sometimes for breakfast), rafted class 3 rapids on the Snake river, told ghost stories around colorful fires and drove 1,000 miles.

Hopfully these pictures tell part of the amazing story that was one of our best vacations…
